Ab Soul Nibru Threats

Ab Soul is a Carson, California borned MC, singed to TDE, member of Black Hippy alongside Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q and Jay Rock. He has released two independent studio albums under TDE flag. The first was "Longterm Mentality" in 2011.In 2012 Mayday (one of Soul's nicknames) gave us his second one LP, entitled "Control System". Once I read review of Soul's LP, the critic put Ab somewhere between K.Dot and Schoolboy because he has the skills to make laid back tracks like Q connected with ability to effuse his emotions and interesting stories like Lamar. Soul has became one of my favourite "new wave" rappers.

"Terrorist Threats" is a single from Soulo's (his another nickname) "Control System". This tune is proving that Soul Brother Number Two (yes, yes...you already know that he has many nicknames, here Black Professor :) is explaining why he called himself Soul Brother no. 2) has razor sharp tongue and he's intelligent as well as open minded. Verses like this below clearly show it:

"...Dear Barack
I know you just a puppet but I'm giving you props
You lying to the public like it ain't nothing
And I love it, I hope it don't stop..."

He used a word "hope" and it's ironical because Obama was using "hope" as a leitmotiv in his presidential campaign. Music plus bars from Black Lip Bastard (I suppose that you already know who is it...), Danny Brown and Jhene Aiko's vocal gives a bit mystic and precariousness vibe.

Nibiru is for me a totally crazy, dope track and I never heard something that you can even compare with it!!! Soul is spitting about ancient Sumerians and their gods - AnunnakisHere and here you can read theories about them.

"...this is my Anunnaki flow
this be my Anunnaki flow
i got that Anunnaki flow..."

This bar obviously tells he has that gods flow and he is one of the best in the rap game. Minimalistic beat produced by JMSN fits perfectly to Ab's verses. You can take this track literally if you feel it that way but it can be also a metaphore of today's world where we are being manipulated by politics as they have totally different purposes than average people. In this interview he explains that he says some things to sparkle conversation, he is not saying that he knows the truth, he is looking for knowledge and answers though.

Bandana Print

Trend hunter- Bandana Print

As we all know (and remember) bandanas have been around since we were born. But as most of fashion trends, even a silly looking bandana scarf has its history. To me bandanas were/are in a way some kind of symbol of the Western world and have a strong association with American culture.
Some say that Bandanas came to the Americas with pirates who came to the Caribbean sea to plunder gold filled Spanish galleons. Later the bandana came with the British colonists and the Red Coats and stayed in America ever since. Even the Native Americans wore bandanas on their necks and as bandanas were often exchanged as gifts or traded with the American Indians. And don’t forget the robbers too, who used their often black bandanas to cover their faces during a robbery (good to know:)! But not straight away bandanas became a fashionable and stylish accessory. There are opinions out there saying that bandanas were introduced to the wider public since Hollywood started making movies known as ''westerns'', in which the scarf was an inseparable attribute of cowboys, Indians, Zorro and other bad asses.
The second source of mine says that Bandanas were first seen on androgynous women in the 60s fighting for equal right. Fast forward to the 80s bandanas became a cultural lifestyle amongst young men. Tupac, Snoop Dog, and even the beautiful Aaliyah just to name a few, followed this trend by putting their own individual twist.
Whichever story is true, the fact is that banadans are definitely on a hot spot and I'm seriously considering getting some stuff ala Zorro :P. Take a look and face it: Bandana is a hot s*#/!

Been Around The Wave

Harry Fraud is a producer born and raised in...(I had to put this link there :)) BK, NY. That is all I will write about him because I fuckin hate writing about stuff who somebody worked with, what they did, where they were sitting and what were they drinking... and all those typical things you can read about anywhere (I really love reading about that stuff...I hate to write about though because I assume that everybody knows it, so f#@* it!)...if you want a history uncle google will tell your curious ass everything.
This beat did Harry F. and he mixed Max B with French Montana's verses plus Daft Punk's classic computer hook "Been Around The World". Below this shitty post you have a final effect of his composition which will definitely bring you to a good mood.

Mark McNairy

Mark McNairy

I won't lie by saying that I have heard about this New York based fashion designer for years. To be completely honest I came across his collection accidently, researching other brand that I was initially planning to write about.

The driving philosophy behind the Mark McNairy line is Mark remaining unrestricted in using his humor and imagination to create clothing that he personally wants in his closet. With few reservations, McNairy has produced classic American menswear staples that have stood the test of time while also including contemporary additions and nuances.

IsaiahRashad

Today I read about two new artists signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, one is Action Bronson and second is Isaiah Rashad. Cool...and I started wondering Action Bronson, ok..., I know this dude because I have adumbration of next sprite...ehh, I mean post and it's in progress. Let's get back to the man this couple sentence should be about-Mr. Isaiah Rashad. To be honest, I heard first time of this guy today and I want to show some samples of his output. Listening to his track "Khaki" - I had a thought: this dude has a distance to himself and he's kinda funny with verses like:

"Far from a nigga don't
Call me a nigga unless you call me my nigga
I love niggaz I'm your only one friend..." -a sense of humor- that's undoubtely his advantage. But what's funnier- at the begining it turns into deeper sociologist analysis:

"I bet you hate your own complexes
I bet you wish you light skin..."

And so what...this is not a review! Just listen!!!

Metallic sneakers

Trend hunter- metallic sneakers

Here they are!! A pure collaboration between NASA and STAR TREK :P. Ready to rock an astronaut's spacesuit on his way to Mars.
Metallic sneakers...

But seriously, metallic sneakers are all the craze right now and you can spot them more often on the streets (not just in the spaceships:P).Luckily, they are becoming more affordable and getting more high street as not everyone can pay $1.095 (RRP of a pair of Dsquared-see below).

Look at the pieces I chose this time. Hopefully, you will like some of them. And remember!Don't be afraid to add some high definition shine to your look. At the end of the day, it's all about the glam man!

B!tch Don't Kill My Vibe

I suppose that every hip hop head heard something about K.Dot. Critics reviews of "Good kid, m.A.A.d city" were superb. But the pressure and expectations before the album's release were also huge at the same time. Lamar talks about it in "The Heart pt. 3
"...When the whole world see you as Pac reincarneted
That's enough pressure to live your whole life sedated
Find the tallest bulding in Vegas and jump off it..."
Now some says his major debut has been already called a classic album. But even though, if you don't like his music, you have to admit objectively that this dude has murdering technical skills. Besides, he wants to say about something deeper not only about money, cars, clothes or hoes ;). For example end of the "Bitch don't..." video we can see a cut off with a text "Death to Molly". Here you can find what Kendrick has got to say about "Molly."
It's hard not mention about remix with Jay-Z. Kendrick's reactions during and after first listening of Hova's verse can tell you what God MC did with this record. However K.Dot didn't let us down and gave great two new verses. He explicitly said "...I'm looking forward to be the god MC..." and he's been heading to the right direction to be put on the pedestal next to other God MC's like Jigga, Nas and Rakim. Below this text you've got the video to "Bitch don't kill my vibe" and remix with Jay-Z with new Kendrick's verses and old hook plus listening session with Andre 3000 and Dr Dre.

Brand Scanner- SUPREME

In April 1994, Supreme opened its doors on Lafayette Street in downtown Manhattan and became the home of New York City skate culture. At its core was the gang of rebellious young New York skaters and artists who became the store's staff, crew and customers.
Supreme grew to be the embodiment of the downtown culture, playing an integral part in its constant regeneration. Skaters, punks, hip-hop heads - the young counter culture at large - all gravitated towards Supreme.
While it grew into a downtown institution, Supreme established itself as a brand known for its quality, style and authenticity.
Over its nineteen year history, Supreme has worked with some of our generation's most groundbreaking designers, artists, photographers and musicians - all who have helped continue to define its unique identity and attitude.
The brand succesfully collaborated with big names such as Nike, Vans, The North Face, Comme des garçons (such a Frenchie name:P), Timberland and more(some work of collaborations below).

Personally, I have to admit, SUPREME is one of my favourite brands and when I'm trying to create a look aiming to show my associations with urban culture, SUPREME products perfectly do this job by making strong edgy statements. This post will be describing Supreme in general as well as giving some examples of some of its collabs so far, but I'm sure that I'll come back to the brand in my future posts.

Supreme x Comme des Garçons Capsule collection 2013

This collab definitely reminds me of my fav Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama's and her obsessive vision of endless dots and nets. The pattern of her art was followed at the same time by the Luis Vuitton (official sponsor of the exhibition at TATE Modern Gallery in London last summer)who inspired by Kusama's art designed an entire collection of garments featuring obsessive dots. The exhibition was breathtaking and I was almost kicked out from the gallery for taking pictures and making movies(ignoring staff requests not to)like a psycho kid, after entering one of the dark rooms :P(even there I couldn't help my rule breaker nature !!).If you would like to see more about Kusama's exhibition click here and watch those two videos. You won't regret it,trust me!!! Anyway, where was I??? Ah...yeah Supreme, I'm sorry for this topic diversion. Yeah, let's have a look at the further collabs (hopefully, those won't remind me anything silly :P).

Supreme x Vans MC 2012

Supreme x Vans 2013 S/S Collection

Ok! I added this pic for the sake of post orders but to be completely honest I think that the result of this collab (in case of the above trainers) is simply gay. However, there is a story behind these beatiful roses how badly damaged by this ugly colour (pink, bleeeeeeh!!!!!). You can read about the whole concept here and if you follow the below comments, you might see somebody saying ''Man I swear Supreme is the only street wear company left that isn't afraid to take chances and release some wild unique shit. Like the print or not you gotta respect that''. And I abcolutely agree with that!! Supreme doesn't mind to take a challenge by experimenting and creating something unforgettable (those sneakers will surely stay in mind for long :P). Beatnic89 (quoted above)!!!You just won a pair of bikini and you never guess in what colour hehehe:P

Supreme x Nike

As if they needed an excuse to collaborate, Supreme has joined Nike Sportswear to commemorate the 30-year anniversary of the Nike Air Force 1. Featuring authentic NYCO fabric that is traditionally used to produce military outerwear, this sneaker made exclusively for Supreme is highly durable and water resistant.

At this point I'd like to close Supreme x section. Hopefully, you like the idea of ''Brand scanner'' post. In the future, I'll try to focus on not only world-known brands and big names but also totally and hardly heard ones that deserve attention.
At the end I want to present you some stuff from Supreme Spring/Summer 2013 collection. There is so much stuff going on, the prints OMG!!!Oh maaaan!
